Bronwyn King
Clinical Leader - Melbourne Metrot
With over 20 years working in the Disability sector, I first entered the field while I was in Uni, where is completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Disability Studies). After working in different roles of direct support and case management, I commenced as a Senior Support Coordinator in 2016 and have been privileged to continue providing support coordination for the past 8 years. Although I have held varying roles of senior leadership within the SC space, my passion is working with people and ensuring that my experience and knowledge can assist others in expanding their own skills and contributing to a well-informed sector overall.
I believe that the role of a Support Coordinator is a privileged one, in that we are welcomed in to people’s most personal lives. As an SC, I strongly believe that we must treat every relationship with individuality, respect and honour. Trust should never be assumed but needs to be earnt through our actions and convictions.
I strongly believe in and embody the philosophy of “community, not competition”. As support coordinators, we have a responsibility to not only provide the best quality services to our participants, but to contribute to sector knowledge and improve communities and lifestyles for all people and families living with disability. And this is what attracted me to Future Focus – a provider who truly values their team and their participants and wants to contribute to positive change.
